Hatchet 3 is the horror film of 2013 in the Hatchet series. It tells the story of Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder stars as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow and Rileah Vanderbilt plays Misty.



The film's special effects are its biggest strength. Hatchet 3 is a horror film that employs CG effects less than many other films. Hatchet 3 has a number of makeup effects that are practical and sets, which results in some truly terrifying scenes throughout the film.

The cast gives a solid performance, with Kane Hodder being the most intimidating villain. The dialogue is hilarious and clever enough to make it seem like a slasher movie from the 80s. There are moments of humor in the movie which add humour to the bloody (blog) action.

Unfortunately because of the small budget (reportedly just $1 million) most locations used are repeats from previous films in the series. The identical boat house was used two times within the movie and a lot of the film feels like it's been recycled from other films in this series. The Hatchet and Hatchet 2 films may feel like it's a familiar film.

Overall, I enjoyed Hatchet 3 even though it felt very similar to prior installments in the series. It also offered lots of bloody thrills as well as some entertaining performances by the actors.
